Ok, quick update before Christmas. Seeing as we are Skyping in a few days, I'm going to keep it to a minimum. It was a quiet week.
Christmas is coming :) I think I've finally realized. We have three DA's [Dinner Appointments] in a row these next few days, and we'll be spending Christmas at one of the members homes. Boxing day we get to go to the Suttons, which will be my favorite day :)
Actually, really cool thing. Remember how I said I got Brother Sutton to promise a trip on the ridgeway? Well, we're going tomorrow, Christmas eve. With Matt. It's going to be so awesome! There's actually a bunch of historical sites on the way, and since Brother Sutton knows everything about Oxfordshire, it's going to be good. I'll make sure and get pictures. Burial mounds, ancient trade routes, stone circles, and the like. Should be awesome :)
Anyways, it's going to be a weird week. We're kind of just house hopping and sharing Christmas messages. Getting return appointments this last week was really tough. That and it has been hard core raining, all day and all night :) Just got back from a P-day spent playing football in the pouring rain. Way fun. Way cold fingers for typing.
But yeah, people don't like being contacted in the rain. I wouldn't like being contacted in the rain :) And when you don't have any investigators (or any appointments with your progressing investigators, for that matter), you go out. No matter what. So, it's been a lot of knocking in the rain, and street contacting in the rain, and being wet missionaries :) Not so bad, actually. Sometimes it incites sympathy, which easily bests a lot of emotions we could be receiving. Other times, people are like "what the heck are you doing out here?! Go home, guys. *slam* " Ha :) Good times in the rain.
Well, the crowning moment of the week was going to the Temple Visitor's Center with Matt. That was incredible. We brought Brother Sutton along, and had a jolly good road trip. When we got there, I had the Sisters set up everything before hand (the perks of knowing the digital zone), and we watched a movie on families and talked all about the temple. It was a really great experience. We all bore testimony on the temple, and how essential it is. It's always good to be reminded that the real goal isn't baptism, but to receive the ordinances and covenants only offered in the Temple. .
Alright, that's really all I've got this time. Hope you are all doing well, can't wait to see you this Wednesday. Just heard that Andrew Barrett arrived home from his mission a little while ago. If anyone get's the chance, hug him for me :)
Cheers,
Elder Foster
