Haha, one of my favorite scriptures is in James 2:19. "Thou believest that there is one God? Thou doest well: the devils also believe..." This has become our new colloquialism. "Oh, you got on the internet yesterday? Thou doest well, the devil also got on the internet yesterday." Good times :)
Anyways, this week has been pretty crazy. I've had two sick companions. Elder Gill and Wright are on the mend now, but were out of commission for two days during the week. So, I had the incredible privilege of going out with the Zone Leaders to contact for two full days. I've never given out so many Books of Mormon or got so many numbers in my life. The Spirit of the Lord was with us in full force. 12 Books given in 6 hours!? I didn't even know that was possible. I learned so much, and have become a much better contacter.
Something awesome: the Temple Bikers. It's a biker gang that rides to the two temples in England every week. Sooooo awesome. Hardcore.
Man, I've realized that I was sent here for a reason. Everyone goes somewhere for a reason. Something Elder Wright told me the other day: "If the Lord needs you to know the baptismal prayer by heart, He sends you to
Brazil. If the Lord needs you to know the scriptures, He sends you to England." Haha, I thought that was hilarious, with all of the friends I have who went to Brazil. The people of England don't quite understand the dynamics of other missions, or of Utah. To them, everything is very stereotypical. It's a bubble, everyone's Mormon, everyone in Brazil gets baptized. It's kind of funny :)
I went driving for the first time in England yesterday! It was actually a lot easier than I expected it to be, although being on the other side of the car presents some challenges. Like staying in the lane. Especially since the lane is freaking tiny! Roundabouts are fun, though. And when you think about them, it makes sense, actually. It was fun. Elder Sparks said I'd be driving in no time. I can't even imagine driving on the right side of the road now.
Service! I did some washing machine repair the other day! I guess I inherited something from Dad :) Someone in the ward said they needed their washer fixed, and I said we'd take a look at it. She was a recent convert, so it was a great opportunity. The washer was so old. I had to take apart the water tube leading to the drum in order to access the filter. There was about five pounds in there :) Fixed the machine right up, the water just couldn't get through.
The online work is amazing. We've had two baptisms this week. Both of which were a result of us finding the person, teaching them online, then turning them over to the local Elders to be baptized. Soooo cool. Lot's of good, Spiritual work went into helping them enter the strait and narrow gate (2 Nephi 31).
Well, that's really about it for this week. I'm almost finished with the Book of Mormon and will be reading the New Testament next! I'm so excited! Got to go, I love you all. You're in my prayers.
Cheers,
Elder Foster
