Hey Mom,
This week has been crazy. We've done some very good work. The area is in poor repair, attested to by the sad, sad, Area Book; so, we spent some serious time working on getting organized and bringing a plan to our next correlation meeting to get the work moving. That's ok, though, because I'm really excited about the people we are working with :) There are three part member families here, and we're currently meeting with each one. Let me talk about two in particular for now, and I'll let you know how they progress as time goes by.
Gareth is a less active member who is living with Laura. We're working on setting a date for them to get married becase Laura would like to be baptized!!! This is due to the fact that Gareth has desires to get back to church and get their family to the temple. I cannot wait to see this family pull together and move toward the temple. We're working on reteaching both of them all of the lessons, and getting some good habits of family prayer and scripture study going. I'm so excited, this family is going to be so blessed for their righteous desires.
Colin and Suling are a whole other story. Colin is an active Elder, married to a non-member, non-english speaking Chinese woman named Suling. Their family dynamic is hilarious and wonderful at the same time. Suling has been coming to gospel principles class the last few weeks of church and is progressing slowly. Elder DeBisschop and I are working on some very basic lessons and extending a baptismal date to her in the upcoming weeks, as well as improving our chinese. Hopefully all that time around the Mandarin Elders in Oxford will pay off :)
I got to sing again at a Zone Conference with Elder Goodson, our district leader and a good friend from my MTC group, on the Piano. It always lifts my heart when we have opportunites like that. I actually sang a duet with the first Japanese missionary in our mission, who just got here two weeks ago, Elder Tomita. He has an incredible voice :) A few years of Japanese choir schooling will do that to you.
Anyways, we are working very hard and there are going to be some amazing things happening here soon. Cannot wait to tell you how everything goes.
Thanks for all your love and support,
Cheers,
Elder Foster
