[Note from Meredith: Today's correspondence is primarily what Stewart and I have come to call a "Housekeeping" letter. In other words, it is a bunch of answers to questions I wrote him in last week's letter. I know that it is difficult for you all to try and follow the thread of a conversation that you only get to see one side of, but I figure that weekly contact of any kind is better than none...so here you go!]
Hey Mom :)
The Ankle is good :) Healed up really well after a week of not working in the area, and taking lots of anti-inflammatories. As well as a blessing. Just another trial, I guess. But it's nice to be up and around again.
I'm currently putting together a Christmas list, I'll post what I have currently next week. Just been writing down things that I may need in a while here. My shoes are doing well :) I switch off every day, and they are holding up fine. They still look terribly American, though, as do my shirts. I may buy a few shirts, come to think of it :)
Still driving and preparing for the test. I'll be taking my theory test in a little bit, here. Driving tests here are way, way more intense than in the states. 50% of people who take them fail, and I can't really afford to fail so we're taking every precaution and training opportunity we can. One of the members who is a police officer is helping me to prepare for the test (for free :) Yay! So I think I'm going to do well.
Ah Conference! :) This was literally the best conference I've ever been to, and the most relevant (probably more so because I was actually listening and brought questions rather than half-sleeping at home :D). I've been preaching about the prophets for 3 months now, might as well not be a hypocrite and listen close :)
Our sessions are crazy. In fact, I still haven't seen the last one, we'll be watching it today in our spare time. There is only one session we watched live, the Sunday Morning one, and the rest were recorded at the chapel. Such good talks! My studies this upcoming week will definitely be focused on what I learned. My favorite was from Elder Scott, and Elder Holland's. Elder Scott's was great, because I've definitely seen some permanent consequences of sin in my life. It was a real comfort to hear that they should no longer be guilt, but weaknesses to be made strong in the Lord. I just have to endure to the very end now, and never let those weaknesses be made into opportunities for Satan, but instead strengths for me.
Well, I think that's an answer to most of your questions! I love you all so much, and conference really made me feel loved and appreciated as a missionary. Hope you are all doing your member missionary work, I appreciate and recognize all of the prayers you are saying for us, we're soooo grateful! The Lord upholds me every day.
Cheers,
Elder Foster
