Holy Cow!
So...this week went by super fast! I don't even know what's happening haha. My studies have been mind blowing this week and I will enlighten you all with my knowledge in a little bit, but we had a crazy experience this week: We were getting some jerk chicken (Jamaican thing, super good) from a member a few days ago and he owns a car wash outside of a gas station. So we pull up and get out of the car and hear, "Don't shoot him man!" and look over and this guy is just booking it away from the store. The next thing we see is this guy (later we found out he was the owner) pull out a glock and cock it and point it at the guy who is running away.
Apparently this guy has tried to rob this store two weeks in a row and keeps failing. It was crazy to see it all happen...luckily the owner didn't know how to use a gun. He double loaded the barrel and jammed the gun when he cocked it back. We later came to the conclusion that God definitely jammed that guy's gun because if he had shot him we would have had to go through a lengthy court case as witnesses and the progress in our areas would have been slowed down :) ... so that's definitely a miracle that we saw this week.
Something else I realized this week is that everything happens for a reason, just like that guy's gun jamming. I have realized that the Spirit directs us to places for reasons, whether it is to find a family, or to kill a minute of time so that when you knock another door the family is actually home, or so that you find someone walking on a street that they usually don't even walk down but chose to because a family member just passed away...or anything like that. It's crazy how everything just works out.
I also heard a 30 Seconds to Mars song from a car next to us a while ago and me and the guy had a moment haha. Anyways...on to my awesome studies this week.
I read about Kolob in the Pearl of Great Price and my mind was blown!! I don't even understand it at all! It is in Abraham 3:1-4, 9 and Moses 1:3,4,33-39. It is all insane doctrine...so go read that and try to fathom it all!
I also learned about the pyramid of success... which basically applies to everything ever. It talks about how to change people's character (which is the conversion process... pretty much). It starts at the bottom with experiences. As you give people good experiences you will change their beliefs (which is the second tier). As their beliefs change, they will also have a change of desires (which is the third tier). And when they have a change of desire, they will want to act on it (which is the fourth tier). And after acting on these desires they will have a change of heart or character (point of the pyramid), which is how missionary work and everything else in the world works. It all starts with good experiences and builds from there. Our job as missionaries is to give those spiritual experiences to everybody that we see, because that is what will lay the groundwork for them to believe what the Spirit is teaching them. Then we invite to people to act and. That is how we can tell who is really ready to receive the gospel...and its CRAZY! BOOM!
Yeah...so that's that. The Church is true and I love you all :)
