Mom,
This week was amazing, quite a few wonderful things happened. I wish I had time to tell you about each one, but that would mean explaining every second of every day. So, I've selected a few that I thought were truly blessings from the Lord.
English Mothers Day was the other day! Saw Elder Wright's family and fiance, and it was a jolly good time :) His family was very supportive of him and helped to focus him on the last three weeks of his mission. That conversation and whole day was led by the Lord. That whole conversation could have gone a whole different direction if his family wasn't inspired to help keep his head in the game...to the end.
We've really been able to dive back into missionary work after the craziness of moving house. I'm not going to lie, I just didn't feel the Spirit much as we were doing that. It distracted a lot from our purpose and limited our effectiveness in an area where we are already restricted by travel. I'm so glad that it is over: we officially handed the keys to the old Witney flat over to the landlord. We sure left that flat cleaner than we found it.
We've been trying hard to turn our hard earned lessons into new investigators, and that's what we were able to do this week. The Spirit led us as we taught, and of course a few miracles didn't hurt:
We knocked an entire close the other day. No one was interested, and quite a few people weren't even in. As we were walking home, a biker rode past us and I felt like we should go back...to the same close. Yeah, that's definitely never happened before; I've always wondered what that feeling was that President Monson speaks about so often. Now I know. So, we show up again and there's a bike sitting outside one of the homes that didn't answer. We knocked and had one of the most beautiful teaches I've been a part of, and were able to set a return appointment. Now that was a miracle of listening to the Spirit, something I will never forget.
Secondly, one of our former investigators called us and set up an appointment, which we happily accepted (when people call you, it's a miracle in and of itself). It was a wonderful teach, and she has been quite humbled since we met with her last (Elder Ganta and I met her when I first came into the area, about 5 months ago). Elder Wright and I are really excited about her, she's planning on coming to general conference this week.
And now for something that may seem insignificant to those of you who have never been to England: Elder Wright prayed that it wouldn't rain on us one morning, because it was just insane outside when we were about to leave. Insane rain means it's hitting you from above and below, as it bounces back up off the pavement :) You know what happened? It stopped when we walked out the door. The rest of the day whenever we got on a bus or went into someone's home, it rained. But not when we left :) Tender mercies.
I'm so excited for this next week. If all of our appointments go through and people come to general conference, we'll have 4 progressing investigators! We're praying that all goes well and we'll be able to baptize this transfer.
Glad to be back in the groove and recognizing the Lord's hand.
Love you all, search for those miracles that happen to you every day. As you recognize them, your life will become so much more meaningful.
Cheers,
Elder Foster
