[This email was spent answering a paragraph of questions I showered him with in my letter]
Mom,
To answer your questions:
Travel day was crazy. Got up at two in the morning and traveled all day. Got to the Mission President's home and had dinner and got interviewed which went well. Then, after all that hubbub, we went with the AP's and knocked an apartment complex for an hour.. which was terrifying. I went with my MTC Companion though, and I love him :D. It was exciting though. We flew into the Fort Lauderdale airport and it was funny because when the pilot said we were about to land I looked out the window and there was literally nothing there. It was the Everglades and then out of nowhere there came this line of civilization where the city just began, it was the weirdest thing.
My bike was sent to the mission president's home where a senior couple put it together and held it. The home is massive in a very wealthy area full of white old people haha. He is a great guy and has the softest voice ever...its weird. He's very stern and everybody here stresses exact obedience, which is good because that is how you see miracles.
I am in the Tamarac City South area with my Spanish speaking companion Elder Adams from Kentucky. He's great, plays basketball and has been out 8 months. He has taught me so much in such a short time it really is quite amazing. On our first day we saw some awesome transfer day + Greenie Miracles haha. We taught six restoration lessons and found 4 new investigators (everyone calls them "Gators" here) and biked a whole ton. We have a car half of the week (from Sunday to Wednesday) and we share it with the North missionaries. I can drive but Elder Adams usually does because I have no clue where anything is around here yet!
WE BIKE A LOT... which is why I said my butt hurts haha. Every day we bike about 10 miles and we have to knock doors for an hour so there's that too. I'm going to have the biggest legs ever when I get back :P It'll be good. I eat a lot though because of the constant exercise.
I do need a flash drive. I wanna put music onto it so that we can listen in the car. I am going to get all of Elder Adam's music from his too. It has like 500 MoTab songs and like 50 talks so I think I will need one of those. Other then that I don't really need much else. Thank you for the package when I was in the MTC. It was so much food but it was awesome :).
It is so beautiful here it's amazing. Palm trees everywhere and random lakes and ponds everywhere as well. The people are amazing and so loving, and contrary to popular belief (Stewart) I don't ever see white people here. They are in the super wealthy areas, but there aren't very many in my mission. The only white guy we have talked to since I got here flipped us off and told us to leave and to get rid of Obama and that God was bad so we just kinda left. Everybody else we have taught and have been working with has been Jamaican or Haitian or Puerto Rican or Cuban or anything from the south really. The people are soooo amazing! I love them so much. They are all so humble and loving and have sweet accents haha.
I love everything about my mission so far, its been amazing and im falling in love with it already. The ward I am in is amazing as well, they are pretty much all converts and they feed the missionaries so much and always wanna come teaching with us. It's the best :) Sunday was so much fun. Everyone here is sooo nice :) Not all want to listen to us, but what they have us do is when we are knocking we ask to say a prayer with people and they pretty much all say yes and then we teach them anyways haha (because we are sneaky missionaries ;)
I'm running low on time and gotta go but I love you all and hope to hear from you next week :) Gonna go play volleyball with my district today, my companion claims to be a good setter so we will see, hehehe.
Love, Elder Foster
